FORD GRANADA GHIA 2.8
automatic saloon, glacier
blue metallic
122,940 miles
A 80 KDU
Purchased by current owner
in August 1999. The previous owner, who was also a member of the Granada
Enthusiast's Club, owned the car for 14 years. The car was owned for the
first year by a company director. It is still a lovely vehicle.
The original Owner's Handbook
is with the car together with the original Service Record up to 36,000
miles in 1987. Current owner has a file of receipts and of work carried
out since then.
BODYWORK:
- The insides of all 4 doors
are affected by no more than surface rust, having been covered with
Waxoyl for many years.
- There is no sign of rust
on the outside of the doors.
- There is no sign of rust
on all four wings.
- The bonnet and boot-lid
show no sign of rust either inside or outside.
- The roof , the sliding portion
and the operating mechanism are rust free.
- There is some rusting at
the bottom corner of the windscreen (although this is not apparent from
the outside since it is hidden by the windscreen rubber) and also slight
evidence of rusting where the electronic ignition power pack is mounted
in the engine compartment.
- The 'A' and 'B' posts and
also the sills appear to be unaffected by rust.
- The underside of the car appears to be unaffected by rust.
REAR AXLE:
- The differential is quiet
with no apparent backlash and all C.V. joints are quiet.
GEARBOX:
- The gearbox performs quietly,
the fluid is a healthy shade of red and there no leaks.
- The front and rear gearbox
seals were replaced in 1984 together with the flywheel starter ring
gear.
ENGINE:
- The engine starts easily
and runs quietly. It uses some oil but shows good oil pressure when hot and does not smoke.
ELECTRICS:
- The window motor for the
rear nearside door has been refurbished and needs to be reinstalled.
- The central locking solenoid
in that door is not reliable but apart from that, everything works.
- The panel of warning lights
above the windscreen behaves correctly.
- All dials and switches,
apart from the door operated switches for the rear electric windows,
operate correctly. Those windows may be operated by the switches on the central console.
INTERIOR:
The interior trim, roof lining,
seats, carpets including the carpet in the boot are in excellent condition
with no rips, tears, undone stitches or marks. This has obviously been
a non-smoker's car.
GENERAL:
- All solid brake pipes and
also the rear suspension springs were replaced in 1995.
- The rear springs still
have the original black jappaned finish.
- The rear wheel brake cylinders
were replaced in 1999.
- A new steering rack was
fitted in 1995.
- All 5 alloy road
wheels and tyres are in good condition.
- The front brake pads and
discs and the rear brake shoes are in good condition.
WORK CARRIED OUT IM MY OWNERSHIP:
- New water pump
- New radiator
- New temperature sender
- New rear dampers
- New exhaust tail pipe and rear silencer
- New petrol tank support straps
I have also sprayed Waxoyl and Supertrol sprayed
into cavities and over the underside.
I believe the car to be a very fine example and it comes with an MOT till July and is taxed until the 30th September 2002. Offers around 999 are invited.
